The Glorious Sons - A War On Everything
When Black Box Music and The Glorious Sons reached out to us to animate the title track of their (then) new album, “A War on Everything,” we immediately jumped at the opportunity. After a briefing call about the song, its themes, and its initial inspiration, the band and label gave us incredible creative freedom to develop the story and concept.
What is it like to have someone weigh you down? When is it time to leave it all behind?
The Story
With the emotional target of capturing “tenderness in the midst of a storm,” we carefully built a piece about holding on, letting go, and finding hope in the darkness.
Here is a collection of some concept sketches. From early on we knew that this piece was going to have an organic and illustrative feel. We would use a limited selection of textured brushes to give each frame a hand drawn feel.
The beautiful colour palette was later developed by Julia Deakin.
