Hi! We’re Matthew and Nadine, the duo behind Bellzon, a boutique animation and illustration studio based in Hamilton, Ontario.

Both storytellers at heart, our sweet spot is marrying nostalgic charm with modern design, resulting in beautiful narrative-forward pieces that feel both fresh and familiar.
We work with a small team of top-notch illustrators, animators, compositors and sound designers to bring our hand-crafted stories to life. And we’re always eager to partner with agencies, brands, and creative collaborators who, like us, still believe in magic.
Hand-Drawn Animation in an Evolving Digital Space
Our creative director, Matthew, learned to animate on paper, which we attribute to our hands-on — let’s call it “analog-meets-digital” — approach to our work. There’s skilled craftsmanship and eraser scuffs at the heart of everything we do. This also dictates how we work with technology and artists: we believe online tools are important, but artists’ work is sacred.
We love the thrill of a blank page and the unique, creative, imagination-stretching challenges each project offers. We also believe in giving credit where it’s due, which becomes difficult (if not currently impossible) when using generative-AI technologies.
Our mandate is to make beautiful and one-of-a-kind pieces — and we want to reassure everyone we partner with that our work is built exclusively on collaborative imagination and pencil smudges.
